Vlog–Rage, Fail!

So, I wanted to record a Vlog about becoming a veteran blogger. I all went wrong and the video is a mess. so i did the only thing i could and uploaded it anyway. i was really getting angry at one point.

It was less than fantastic

Yeah, its pretty bad, nothing went right and i should have deleted but i thought, screw it, i worked hard and what footage i have will be inflicted on the masses! also, i am ware that it doesn’t make allot of sense.

 

060321 hex Codemasters, you have failed us, for the last time…… no wait, you didn’t actually at all did you…. it was Turbine, and bad luck and many other things we don’t know about…. or was it? this will take some skill to resolve…. can you do it? you can! good… when will it be ready? soon you say… soon…. 

Yeah, it was only a matter of time wasn’t it some one from the Quest Hard blog was going to write it, it may as well be me. Today Codemasters failed to launch the new look LotRO free-play service. they even failed to bother telling us until mid day today.

(click image for larger view) this was the image that greeted many desperate players when they went to the EU Community page today and then as you can guess the forum was err, alive with discussion. this was once again a wonderful job of Codemasters failing on the customer service front, now, i like the code masters community team but seriously, this note should have been posted last night at the latest.

There has been no reason given for this failure to lunch but traditionally the reasons for late patches have been…

  • Turbine not providing it on time (believable)
  • Turbine Providing ‘dodgy’ patch code (believable)
  • Localisation taking more time than expected (type faster damn you!)
  • refusal to launch a patch until hit-fixes are in place (that’s actually a great reason)

Looking at the ‘issues’ with the shop on the US service i think there where reasons not to launch today, i also think it was probably the best choice, however…

WE GIVE YOU MONEY, GIVE US INFORMATION

This may seem obvious but as rather hardened gamers we can live with a weeks delay what we can not live with is the lack of real communication from the company. Codemasters owe it to players to tell us why the patch is late, a rough time frame of when it will be fixed and most of all act like there is some real regret. so far we have had a few posts my favourite being the one that reads ”Sometimes things don’t go to plan” well sorry but we never knew there was a plan!

i worry that the EU will loose allot of potentially loyal players to the US service over the next few weeks. i also think they are trying to block international users from each service which is why many Virgin Media users where today blocked from the game this problem has not been commented on by Codemasters but its a little coincidental isn’t it. 

I think i was quite fair with what i have just said. so with that i will move on. i can grantee you though that both One True Cast and the Quest Hard Audio Blog will be commenting on this next episode.

I am now going to play LotRO as planned. but with less new patch awesome.
